Parking at the Family History Library and Temple Square

Free Parking

The the parking lot on the east side of the Church History Library is generally available for free parking for both Family History Library and Church History Library patrons during the following times:

  • Weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays all day**

**Exceptions include Conference Center events, and from the day after Thanksgiving to January 2nd.

There are many parking options available in the area including metered street parking and paid parking lots around the FHL. Some of those parking options include:

  • West Temple Lot: Parking lot North West corner of North Temple and West Temple, requires exact change. T
  • Plaza Hotel, directly south of the FHL
  • The Parking Place, directly west of the FHL. Entrance is located on 300 West Temple.

Public Transportation

Both bus and TRAX (light rail) stops are located within one block of the FHL. For current stops and schedules, go to Ride UTA .

The closest stop on TRAX for the library is the Temple Square stop.

Free Ride Zone

Downtown, there is a twelve block radius that is designated as the UTA Free Ride Zone for riding both the Bus and TRAX lines.

The FrontRunner (commuter rail) is also available to access downtown, but you must transfer to TRAX to get to the Temple Square stop.
