Welcome to the Reno Family History Center! No matter if you are new to genealogy, or a seasoned researcher, our friendly and knowledgeable staff is ready to help you on your exciting journey to unlock the past.

  • Our center is located within the Neil Rd, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church building; on the north west corner of Neil Rd and Filbert. Park on the west end of the parking lot and enter the building either through the main west entrance facing Filbert, or the west end entrance.

  • Every Wednesday at 1:00 pm, we have "hands on" computer classes.

Collections[edit | edit source]

  • Patrons' Microfiche Collection -- a collection of fiche ordered by our patrons, assorted titles. Contain family histories, vital records, and other types of information.
  • Indefinite Film Collection -- a collection of films on a variety of subjects, to include vital records, county records, court records, etc.
  • Book Collection: -- We have a large collection of books that cover Reno, Washoe county, and various countries throughout the world. Our center also houses the Parkin collection of records from north western Nevada and parts of north eastern California.

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Portal page, which gives free access, within the center, to premium family history software and websites that would generally charge for subscriptions. These include:
    • Ancestry.com
    • Findmypast
    • MyHeritage
    • and more
  • Full access to FamilySearch databases and help using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Our center is equipped with both microfilm and microfiche readers, 9 computers, 3 printers, and 1 copier for your convenience.

We also have a scanner.
