FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.



The Monroe Utah Family History Center serves individuals residing in the southern part of Utah's Sevier Valley. The center provides free access to numerous genealogical websites and databases, and houses a small permanent collection of local history books and microfilm/microfiche. Those in the the local area are encouraged to visit and receive consultation and other general assistance with their family history. The center is staffed on a limited schedule and by appointment with Ward Temple and Family History Consultants.

  • The center is located just west of the South Sevier Middle School. The center shares a building with the Records Operations Center, which operates during alternating hours.  Parking is available on the street in front of the center.

  • The center is also open by appointment with Ward Temple and Family History Consultants.
  • Group visits: Due to staffing concerns and space availability, groups which plan to visit the center for any reason should contact the center during open hours to schedule an appointment.

Holiday Schedule:

  • Closed most federal and state holidays, please call for information on specific dates.

Consultant Training

Staff training for Temple and Family History Consultants of the Monroe Stake is held generally on the third Thursday of each month. 

Next Staff Meeting will be on January 18, 2018 at 6:30.

UPCOMING Class Schedule

(Classes are taught on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. No need to sign up just come. If you have a Laptop computer or Devise that you are using, please bring them if you have any questions or needs.)

February 21st - Finding and attaching sources on FamilySearch

February 28th - Ancestral Quest, the "Ins and outs". Ancestral Quest is a program you can put on your computer to keep your own copy of your Family History. There is a Free limited version available as well as a paid version. It is installed on all Family History Center computers and can be accessed for free there.

March 7th - Ancestral Quest, how to link with FamilySearch. Once you set up your database in Ancestral Quest, you can learn how to link it to FamilySearch, then pass information back and forth between the two.

March 14th - Ancestry.com, the "Ins and outs". Ancestry.com is an online way to keep your own Family Tree. Learn how to navigate this program and keep your own tree on this popular website. There are a lot of resources available from this site also, free to LDS members.

March 21st - Ancestry.com, how to link with FamilySearch. Once you set up your tree on Ancestry.com, you can learn how to link it to FamilySearch and pass information back and forth between the two.

March 28th - Tentatively we will be having a class on DNA... More information to come...

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. This includes Ancestry.com, ArkivDigital, Findmypast.co.uk, Fold3, NewsaperArchive.com, WorldVitalRecords.com, etc.
