FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.



The Monroe Utah Family History Center serves individuals residing in the southern part of Utah's Sevier Valley. The center provides free access to numerous genealogical websites and databases, and houses a small permanent collection of local history books and microfilm/microfiche (with the ability to order additional microfilm from the Family History Library). Those in the the local area are encouraged to visit and receive consultation and other general assistance with their family history. The center is staffed on a limited schedule and by appointment with Ward Temple and Family History Consultants.

  • The center is located just west of the South Sevier Middle School. The center shares a building with the Records Operations Center, which operates during alternating hours.  Parking is available on the street in front of the center.

  • The center is also open by appointment with Ward Temple and Family History Consultants.
  • Group visits: Due to staffing concerns and space availability, groups which plan to visit the center for any reason should contact the center during open hours to schedule an appointment.

Consultant Training

Staff training for Temple and Family History Consultants of the Monroe Stake is held generally on the third Thursday of each month. 

Next Staff Meeting will be on September 21st, with a social half hour starting at 6:00 and the meeting from 6:30-7:30 (Possibly 8:00 if we are on a roll)

Conna will update the consultants on past training and upcoming training. Rob will be working on specific Proficiencies designed to make each consultant more effective in their calling. Earlene will also be presenting another book or resource for the group. Come and learn as we grow this wonderful work.

UPCOMING Class Schedule

Our next set of classes at the Family History Center will be Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Choose the class that interests you. No need to sign up. Come to one or come to them all.

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the microfilms and microfiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog. The ordering service is available at Online Film Ordering

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. This includes Ancestry.com, ArkivDigital, Findmypast.co.uk, Fold3, NewsaperArchive.com, WorldVitalRecords.com, etc.
