Purpose

The purpose of this project is to fix Scotland Parish pages. The upgrade caused Heading 2s to be converted to Heading 1s which cause the name of the wiki article to disappear from the page. We are going to fix these headings.

Task List

[ Task List]

Instructions

1. Go to the [ Task List] and sign up for a span of parishes in a specific Scotland county.
2. Click on the link to the parish list for your county and click on the first parish you signed up for.
3. Check to see if the title of the wiki article is missing. If it is not missing, you do not need to edit the page and you can move on to the next parish.
4. If the title of the wiki article is missing, open the parish page in wikitext.
5. Review the page and change any Heading ones to Heading twos. To do so, add an equal sign to any headings that only have one equal sign on each side. See the below examples:

INCORRECT:
= History =

CORRECTED:
== History ==

6. If there is a subsequent headings that are heading twos (example: ==), change them to heading threes (example: ===) so the headings will be consistent. Some headings to change from heading two to heading three are:

  • Established Church—Old Parochial Registers
  • Nonconformist Churches

NOTE: Use common sense when fixing the headings as no all parish pages are the same and have different headings.

Final Step - Save the page

1. Once you have fixed the page, click on the Show Preview button to see if the headings are correct. The page title should be seen and the table of contents headings should look something like this:

2. Make any necessary adjustments to fix any problems you find.

3. Once the headings look correct, type "fixed headings" in the Summary box and click, Save Page.
4. Return to the task list and go to the next parish page. Continue until you have completed the list of parishes.
