What is the Family History Library Block Party?[edit | edit source]

The Family History Library Block Party is a fun family-friendly event sponsored by the Family History Library with assistance from the Church History Museum. West Temple Street between North and South Temple will be blocked off and for live entertainment, outdoor activies, and indoor activities both in the Family History Library and the Church History Museum.

When is the Family History Block Party?[edit | edit source]

The Family History Library Block Party will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The event in Salt Lake City will run from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. It will be held on West Temple Street from North Temple to South Temple.

There is no charge to attend the Family HIstory Library event. All activities are family-friendly.

Live Entertainment Schedule[edit | edit source]

The following live entertainment will take place outside the Family History Library on the plaza between the library and the Church History Museum.

  • Scottish Bagpipes- 10:15am
  • Pecos Posse Old West Singers- 11:15am
  • Taste of Polynesia- Polynesian dancers- 12:15pm
  • Pecos Posse Old West Singers- 1:15pm

There will be fun for the whole family with the following free activities!

Inside the Family History Library (Main Floor)[edit | edit source]

  • 15 min family history classes: See schedule below
  • Green Screen photo opportunity
  • Free photo scanning- Bring in your old photos and digitize them using the Library's fast, high-tech scanners that can scan 85

pictures per minute

  • Get your photo taken within the FamilySearch logo
  • Replace a face computers- Superimpose your face on old time period photos
  • My Family Booklet Display- What do you know about your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents? Begin recording the memories you have about your family in the My Family Booklet.
  • 3-in-1 computers which include the following experiences: See where your ancestors came from and the percentage of your heritage. View your  ancestors on a world map to see where they lived and explore their photos and stories. Discover the meaning of your name and the names of your family members. Discover the events that took place the year you and other family members were born. See what famous people you may be related too.

All classes are 20 minutes long and will be held in the Main Floor Computer Lab

  • Museum Detective Interactive Program. Showings in the Museum Auditorium.

Where is the Family History Library?[edit | edit source]

Parking[edit | edit source]

There are several places to park around the Family History Library and Temple Square.

  • Free parking. Behind the LDS Church History Museum the day of the event there will be limited free parking. Enter the lot from North Temple.
  • Pay parking. City Creek Center enter from South Temple.
  • Pay parking. Lot on the northwest corner of North Temple and West Temple.
  • Pay parking. Under the LDS Conference Center. Enter on West Temple just north of North Temple.
