Purpose
Add citations to the timelines found on the county pages. Also remove any unnecessary information

Instructions
1. Sign up on the Task List
2. Go to the county wiki page you are adding the citation
3. Find the timeline on the page. It is either under History Timeline heading or under County Information heading
4. If there is no timeline on the page, please go back to the task list and put the county name and your initials on the No Timeline table. You can then go on to the next county.
5. If there is a timeline on the page, go to Part 1 below.
Part 1:
Remove any unnecessary bullets in the timeline and correct intro paragraph.
1. When the timelines were originally put on the county pages, all the information was brought over. We would like to shorten the list of bullets and only leave pertinent genealogical information in the timeline.
2. Edit the section in wikitext and review the timeline
3. Delete the following from the wiki page:
- a. Delete the first bullet referring to the first inhabitants as being Native Americans (this is true, but a redundant and unnecessary statement)
- b. Delete all bullets that have dates before 1686.
4. In the intro paragraph change the county name from Arkansas County to the name of the page you are working on. (i.e., if you were working in Dallas County, change Arkansas County to Dallas County).
5. Go to the bottom of the county wiki page and add, Edited timeline and click, Save page.
6. Review the timeline above and make sure the bullets are intact and spacing is correct.
Part 2
Add the citation to the wiki page
6. Edit the page in rich text editor (not wikitext)
7. Put your cursor behind the website name, The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture.
8. Delete the existing reference [n]
9. On the Rich text editor menu, click on the R on the left. It will open a dialogue box called, Reference Properties.
10. On the example below, you want to remove all of the parentheses () but not the brackets []
11. Paste the following into the field, Reference Text (Wikitext) in the dialogue box:
- (AUTHOR), ''The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture,'' [URL OF COUNTY PAGE ON WEBSITE REPEAT URL] : accessed (DATE YOUR ACCESSED THE PAGE), “(COUNTY NAME) County.”
Part 3
Locate the author of the website article
1. Open a new tab or browser to go to the county website page on The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture website for the county wiki page you signed up for One on the county website page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for the name of the author in the bottom right hand corner.
2. With the author’s name, return to the county wiki page and replace, (AUTHOR) including the parentheses with the name of the author. The first name should be listed first. For example, John Smith.
3. Go back to the website page and copy the URL in the URL address field at the top of the page and replace in the dialogue box: URL OF COUNTY PAGE ON WEBSITE REPEAT URL leaving in the square brackets. You will enter the URL twice between the brackets with a space between the two entries.
4. Replace the (DATE YOU ACCESSED THE PAGE) including the parentheses with the current date.
5. Replace the (COUNTY NAME) including the parentheses with the name of the county.
Example of a completed citation in wikitext for Arkansas County:

Example of citation on the page: Bill Shrum, The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture, (http://www.encyclopediaofarkansas.net/encyclopedia/entry-detail.aspx?entryID=745&type=Category&item=Counties&parent=Counties%2c+Cities%2c+and+Towns&grandparent= : accessed 30 September 2015), “Arkansas County.”
5. Click, OK on the dialogue box so it saves your reference.
Part 4
Save the wiki page
1. Go to the bottom of the county wiki page and add, Added timeline citation and click on Save Page.
2. Now go back to the timeline to see if the citation worked by clicking on the small number at the end of The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture website link. If it takes you to the bottom of the page to the references section, review the citation to make sure it is correct. Make any necessary changes.
