In 1866 the independent Kingdom of Hannover was taken over by Prussia and became a Prussian province.
This province was divided into six regions:
1.Aurich
2.Hannover
3.Hildesheim
4.Lueneburg
5.Osnabrueck
6.Stade.

The capital city was Hannover.
