Monthly Class Schedule

All classes are held in the Training Room of the Family History Center. Please register in advance by calling the Brigham City Family History Center at 723-5995.


Tuesday June 2 -6:00 PM - "Family History through DNA Studies", taught by Julie Johnson
Learn how DNA studies can further your family history research.

Thursday June 4- 6:00 PM - "Audio Files in Family Tree", taught by Michael Palmer
It is now possible to add audio files to Family Tree. This class teaches how to make audio recordings and also capture clips from existing recordings to upload to Family Tree.

Saturday June 6 - 10:00 AM - "Scanning Workshop", taught by Michael Palmer
This class teaches how to preserve precious photos and documents that may be uploaded to Family Tree or saved for your personal archive. Bring a flash drive and several photos to scan."

Monday June 8 - 10:00 AM - "Beginning Family Tree", taught by Annette Shepherd
Learn the basics of using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Saturday June 13 - 10:00 AM - "RootsMagic Users Group", taught by Michael and Joyce Palmer
Come and join the discussion with other RootsMagic users and learn more about the RootsMagic program and how to use it more effectively. All experience levels welcome.

This class teaches the fundamentals of using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Wednesday June 24 - 6:00 PM - "Beginning Family Tree, Pt 2", taught by Galane Young
This class teaches the fundamentals of using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Thursday June 25 - 2:00 PM - "Beginning Research", taught by Linda Peterson
Learn how to use Internet research sites as you begin your own Family History.

Tuesday June 30 - 2:00 PM - "Helps for Reading Old Handwriting", taught by Anita Olsen
Are you struggling to read records written in old scripts? This class teaches the fundamentals of reading old handwriting.

Wednesday July 8 - 2:00 PM - "Beginning Family Tree, Pt 1”, taught by Mikhael Trimnal
This two-week class teaches the basic fundamentals of using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Saturday July 11 - 10:00 AM - "RootsMagic Users Group”, taught by Michael and Joyce Palmer

Wednesday July 15- 2:00 PM - "Beginning Family Tree, Pt 2”, taught by Mikhael Trimnal
The second week of a two-week class teaching the basic fundamentals of using FamilySearch Family Tree.

Friday July 17 - 10:00 AM - "Ancestry.com”, taught by Susan LaVelle
Learn the best methods for using the Ancestry.com website. Learn how to navigate the site, build a tree, and exchange data between Ancestry and FamilySearch.

Saturday July 18 - 10:00 AM - "Ancestry.com Workshop”, taught by Susan LaVelle
This is a follow-up class from the July 17 class. This will be hands-on practical use of Ancestry.com."

Tuesday July 21 6:00 PM - "Beginning Research”, taught by Linda Peterson
Learn how to use Internet research sites as you begin your own Family History.

Wednesday July 22 - 10:00 AM - "Getting Started with RootsMagic”, taught by Vicki Rasmussen
This class teaches the basic features and capabilities of the genealogy data management program RootsMagic. Learn how to get started using the program and how to exchange data with FamilySearch.

Wednesday July 29 - 2:00 PM - "Family Tree Q&A and Photos”, taught by Mikhael Trimnal
This is a follow-up workshop to the Beginning Family Tree class for hands-on practice using Family Tree.

Thursday July 30 - 2:00 PM - "Follow the Clues . . . a Class for Youth”, taught by Linda Peterson and Shari Duce
This class is for youth ages 12 and up. Each person must have an LDS Account and come with their username and password. Students will be introduced to the fun of Family History through games, stories and computers. Register early because space is limited.
