Record Description

This collection is the civil registration (stato civile) within the custody of the Vallo Della Lucania Courthouse (Tribunale di Vallo Della Lucania). The availability of certain types of records will depend on time period and location. Records for this collection fall within the years 1866 to 1929 and may include:

  • Births (nati)
  • Deaths (morti)
  • Marriage banns (pubblicazioni)
  • Ten-year indexes (indici decennali), meaning transcribed lists of births, marriages, or deaths
  • Supplemental documents (allegati), meaning a collection of records that will start with a title page and may include:
    • Notes from hospitals regarding births or deaths
    • Notes from other towns or foreign countries (if a birth or death did not occur in the regular place of residence)
    • Marriage files; Marriage banns
    • Declarations of intention to marry
    • Other certificates.
