Citizenship Records[edit | edit source]
Citizenship records (registre cetatenie) were kept in each town from about 1500 to 1900. These are lists of citizens or inhabitants of the town or lists of persons who are entitled to special rights, priveleges and/or protection of the town or community. They can be used to link generations, especially in towns and communities where the family has resided for several generations. Some citizenship records may include the genealogy of the person listed.
Information Provided:
Names, ages, and social and/or economic class of the citizen. The town of origin and date when citizenship was acquired is also available as well as family relationships to other citizens.
