  • Hays' Regiment, Alabama
    "Units of the Confederate States Army" by Joseph H. Crute, Jr. contains no history for this unit.
  • Hilliard's Legion, Alabama Volunteers
    Hilliard's Legion, organized at Montgomery, Alabama, in June, 1862, It was composed of five battalions, but one mounted battalion soon became part of the 10th Confederate Cavalry Regiment. Its artillery arm was detached and redesignated the Barbour Light Artillery. In November, 1863, it was dissolved. Parts of the 1st and 3rd Battalions formed the 60th Alabama Regiment, and the 2nd and 4th Battalions became the 59th Alabama Regiment. Three companies of the 1st Battalion formed the 23rd Alabama Battalion Sharpshooters.
  • Hurt's Battery, Alabama Light Artillery
    Hardaway's-Hurt's Battery was organized by R.A. Hardaway and moved to Virginia in June, 1861. The men were raised in Russell, Macon, and Tallapoosa counties.It surrendered

  • Camp of Instruction, Talladega, Alabama Talladega was one of two camps of instruction established in Alabama for collecting recruits.  Most men between the ages of 18 and 35 would be obliged to enroll. Enrolling officers in each county collected men and took them to camp, where they were enrolled and eventually assigned to a front-line unit

    Montgomery True Blues Light Artillery was formed at Norfolk, Virginia, in January, 1863, with men from Montgomery who had served in the 3rd Alabama Regiment.disbanded at Ridgeway, North Carolina, in April, 1865.
  • Moreland's Regiment, Alabama Cavalry
    Moreland's Cavalry Battalion was organized in August, 1863, at Russellville, Alabama, with men raised in Frankiln County.On May 18, 1865, it surrenderded at Iuka
  • Murphy's Battalion, Alabama Cavalry (Alabama and Florida Battalion)
    The 15th Confederate Cavalry was organized in early 1864 at Mobile, and it was composed of Alabama and Florida companies In April 1865, it was sent to establish a courier line to Demopolis, but before this was done, the regiment took part in a disastrous fight at Claiborne. The greater part of the regiment disbanded, and the few who remained were paroled at Demopolis.
