History

Tyrella is a parish in the union of Downpatrick, barony of Lecale, county of Down, province of Ulster. The parish is a rectory in the diocese of Down.

In the Roman Catholic Church the parish is the head of a district, comprising also the parish of Ballykinlar and part of Loughinisland.
