Brief History
Members of the 3rd Battalion of the Missouri Confederate Cavalry enrolled between 11 January and 15 August 1862. They were led by Colonel Upton Hays.[1]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company D - Captains Lewis H. Furnish and Jonas W. Graves - Many men from Springfield, Greene County
Company E - Captains Langhorn, James H. C. Braham, Felix Lotspeich, Charles K. Polk, Andrew J. Thompson, and William R. Wright - Many men from Springfield, Greene County
Company F - Captains Thomas A. W. Graves, A. Donald Brown, William H. Glenn, John W. Jacobs, and Charles K. Polk - Many men from Springfield, Greene County
Company G - Captain Henry Clay Price - Many men from Stockton, Cedar County
Company H - Captains J. G. Payton and Griff Bayne - Many men from Jackson County
Company I - Captain William C. Clanton - Many men from Jackson County
Company K - Captain Joseph C. Kent - Many men from Jackson County
