UGA Summer Conference
UTAH GENEALOGICAL SUMMER CONFERENCE
Hosted annually by Utah Genealogical Association, the 2011 event will be held August 19–20 at Salt Lake Community College – Miller Campus.
- THEME: OUR FAMILY: OUR HERITAGE
The conference will combine excellent presenters with a wide variety of topics for beginning to advanced skill levels.
Presentation topics include International Research; Technology; U.S. Research; Writing Personal and Family Histories; Printing; New FamilySearch and FamilySearch; the Research Wiki; Community Networking (Blogs and other social media); and Artifact Preservation.
- There will also be technology training and hands-on labs, including computer classes in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Participants can try personal databases, research sites, and photo restoration.
- ICAPGEN (International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional GENealogists) has expressed interest in a complete track for becoming a professional genealogist.
- A FamilySearch representative will teach computer labs on Indexing, the FamilySearch Search Engine, the Research Wiki and Forums.
- Vendors will also teach hands-on classes in the labs.
The keynote address on Friday is from 8-9:00 a.m. with class sessions to follow.
There is ample parking which will also be free to participants.
