The Tallahassee Florida Family History Center serves all those interested in researching their family history in the Tallahassee, Cairo, Crawfordville, Madison, Perry, Quincy, and Thomasville areas.

  • 312 Stadium Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32304
  • We are located across the street from the Florida State University College of Medicine. Park on the southwest side of the building, in the section by the parking sign indicating you are visiting the Family History Center. Ring the intercom at the southwest entrance if the door is locked.

Collections[edit | edit source]

  • Family History Library Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
    • The Center has several collections of family history information from LDS families that have lived in the area in the past.
    • (List additional collections you have such as the types of books and microfilm you have on indefinite loan; though you will not want to list every single item you have. Just give visitors to this page a general idea of your resources.)

Databases and Software[edit | edit source]

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page, which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. For example, you can access information on Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, and Find My Past for no charge. 
  • At the family history center, you can use popular family history programs, such as Personal Ancestral File (PAF) and Ancestral Quest. 
  • Assistance in learning to use New Family Search and Family Search, and in problem solving any issues you may have with 

Hardware and Equipment[edit | edit source]

  • The center has several internet and printing-capable computers and free wi-fi
  • Several microfilm/microfiche machines are available
  • A computer able to print/scan from microfilm/microfiche.
  • Printing is available for $0.10 a page.

Staff Research Specialties[edit | edit source]

Brother and Sister Cranford, who are in charge of the family history center in the Tallahassee stake, have served a family history mission to Salt Lake City.

Volunteer at the Center[edit | edit source]

We are looking for people to volunteer at the center who are willing to substitute for our regular shift volunteers.  The shifts are Tuesday-Thursday from 10am-1pm, 1-4pm, 4-7pm and 7-9pm.  If you are available during any of these times and would like to be put on the on-call list for the center, please email Brother and Sister Cranford at fl_tallahassee@ldsmail.net, or call the center at 850-222-8870 if you are interested in volunteering.
