The Daughters of the Republic of Texas is a lineage society which acts as custodians for several historical sites in Texas, including the Alamo. Members must be descendants of residents of Texas prior to Statehood, which took place in February 1846. Ancestors must have also been Texas land grant owners, other early Texas residents, soldiers, sailors and civil officers who either helped establish Texas Independence or assisted the Republic of Texas in maintaining its independence prior to statehood.
