British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) is a [[England Genealogy|British colony]] in the Indian Ocean. It was formerly part of [[Mauritius Genealogy|Mauritius]]. In 1965, BIOT was split off for military purposes (the base at Diego Garcia).
