What is in This Collection?
Burial records from the Charles Evans Cemetery and Crematory in Reading, Pennsylvania. This collection includes permit books, burial cards, and diagram cards. Burial cards and diagram cards are an index to the permit books. Burial cards list the name of the deceased, lot owner, lot number, lot section, age at death (year, month, day). (On the cards where birth and death dates are indicated - this information supplied by the funeral director. The cemetery then determined from this information the year, month and day of the age of the deceased). Diagram cards list lot number and section along with a diagram of the lot and persons interred there on. Microfilm of the original records is located in the Charles Evens Cemetery and Crematory.
