The counties of Tønder, Haderslev, Åbenrå, and Sønderborg are the northern part of the Duchy of Schleswig. They were not officially part of the kingdom of Denmark until after Germany and Denmark determined a boundary in 1920. The Danish Military Levying roll system does not apply to the Duchy of Schleswig.
