January

  • Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy 11-15 January 2016 $
    The Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG) is a week-long intensive educational experience that takes students deep into their topic of choice. Students attending SLIG have the opportunity to advance their education with renowned genealogy experts during a week-long experience, network through special events, and tap into the wealth of resources at the nearby Family History Library.
    SLIG is dedicated to offering courses that fill a high-intermediate and advanced-level educational need. We additionally offer a handful of courses structured to help intermediate and transitional genealogists strengthen their core understanding of the research process.

  • NGS (National Genealogical Society) Conference 4–7 May 2016 $
    The NGS 2016 Family History Conference will find genealogists from around the country gathering in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a four-day conference with more than 150 lectures on a wide range of topics. Topics will include federal records, the law and genealogy, methodology, analysis and problem solving, military and land records, DNA, BCG Skillbuilding, and the use of technology. Among the local topics planned are Florida and Caribbean research. Registration for the conference and all related events opens on 1 December 2015.

  • Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) 12-17 June 2016 Birmingham Alabama $
    Registration for IGHR 2016 will open at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (10:00 a.m. Central) on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
    The Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research at the Samford University Library provides an educational forum for the discovery, critical evaluation, and use of genealogical sources and methodology through a week of intensive study led by nationally prominent genealogical educators. Every year, some courses fill up in a matter of minutes, so be sure to be wherever you have your fastest internet connection at registration time.   • National Institute on Genealogical Research The National Institute on Genealogical Research (N.I.G.R.), at the National Archives in Washington D.C. and College Park, Maryland, is an intensive program offering on-site examination of federal records.   • New York State Family History Conference 15-17 September 2016 Syracuse, NY $
    Hosted by the Central New York Genealogical Society and the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, the 2016 New York State Family History Conference will run concurrently with the annual conference of the Association for Public Historians of New York State. Registrants to the NYSFHC Conference are welcome to attend APHNYS lectures and field trips, and APHNYS registrants are welcome to attend NYSFHC lectures. The Third New York State Family History Conference will feature two and a half days of four simultaneous lecture tracks and field trips and will also include a vibrant exhibitor and vendor hall. Early sponsors include FamilySearch, findmypast, the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.
