Saturday September 9, 2017 was the date of the exciting Conference where Elder Petersen announced the plans for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint to build a NEW Ogden Utah FamilySearch Center just south of the Ogden Temple. After that exciting news by the keynote speaker, the attendees went to the 61 different classes offered that day.
Since our 2006 Conference, this event has been and is entirely free and open to the public. We are grateful for the sponsorship of the Weber State University History Department and the Ogden Utah FamilySearch Center, who make this annual family history conference possible.
Location[edit | edit source]
Weber State University will again host our Conference in the Shepherd Union Building.
The below links will show you the campus and the Shepherd Union Building.
To see the WSU Campus map click HERE
Parking: The PPL pay parking lot located just southwest of the Union Bldg, as all lots on Saturday are free and open parking.
It is recommended that the best handicap parking would be in Lot W8, located just south of the Kimball Arts bldg, as no stairs are present.

One-On-One Help[edit | edit source]
This year we will again offer personalized help with your family history, genealogy or research questions. We especially encourage beginners to sign up for individualized help. We HAVE set up a sign in link at (click HERE) ogdenfsl.org/classes, and scrolling to September 9th, selecting the desired time and book it! Here you can register and communicate with an assigned helper BEFORE your visit to the conference where they will assist you in person. This one-on-one activity at the Conference will be done through the FamilySearch portal, so it will be necessary for you to provide your FamilySearch Email address and your user name and helper identification number (located at your FamilySearch.org profile page). We would encourage Spanish speakers to sign up for the one-on-one so a Spanish speaker will be assigned to help you. We hope to have up to four stations available for walk-ins, but we would encourage you to sign up in advance.
Keynote Speaker[edit | edit source]
Elder Steven M Petersen of the 5th Quorum of the Seventies, will be our keynote speaker for this conference. He resides in Farr West, Utah; is chairman of the board, Petersen Inc.; former bishop, high councilor, stake president’s counselor, stake president, and mission president; married to Polly Petersen, seven children.
Class Schedule[edit | edit source]
All classes are open seating, in other words, the first one sitting in a particular class is the first one to get a seat. When all the seats are taken the class will be considered full. We do NOT have a reservation system like we do for classes at the Ogden Utah FamilySearch Center or for the one-on-one training.
The Class Titles with their Descriptions are listed alphabetically with the first word (and prepositions such as "The" being counted as a first word) by clicking HERE. Most Class Descriptions also have a link to a teacher prepared syllabus that class members are encouraged to use.
The Biographical sketches may be viewed (alphabetically by their last name) by clicking HERE.
The following class schedule has been updated beyond the publication of the Conference Handout available at the conference. The WIKI contains the most current class schedule, presenters, and room assignments for the conference. Changes from the paper schedule at the conference are noted in italics. NOTE that there are FIVE sessions, so scroll to the right to see all of the 66 total classes that are being offered.
