Historical Background[edit | edit source]
From 1884 to the end of WWI, Namibia was under German rule. After WWI, Namibia became part of South Africa until 1969.[1] The Namibian reports that all birth, death and marriage records of Namibian citizens from the time before Independence have been returned to Windhoek and South Africa only kept copies in Pretoria.
