The Municipal Archives of Aguascalientes is the institution responsible for safeguarding and sharing the historical heritage of this city. The historical background of this file covers the years 1783 to 1975 and contains a total of 70,000 records or so. It also has an extensive library that one can view works on the history of Aguascalientes as well as a very thorough consultation room and newspaper.

A few meters from the Municipal Archives is center library INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History) which has treasured objects and documents that tell the history of Aguascalientes, it also contains a large collection that is part of "The Royal Road of the Interior" which is a historical route of more than 2000 kilometers and over 400 years since it was started during the Spanish colonial era which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
