114th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry
Brief History
"This regiment was organized at Memphis, Tennessee several years before the breaking out of the war between the States. It was incorporated by an act of the Legislature passed Mar 22, 1860. As soon as war was declared and Tennessee called for troops, the regiment was reorganized and enlisted for twelve months."[1]
"Units of the Confederate States Army" by Joseph H. Crute, Jr. contains no history for this unit. [2]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
