Brief History[edit | edit source]
43rd Regiment, North Carolina Infantry was assembled at Camp Mangum, near Raleigh, North Carolina, in March, 1862. It surrendered on April 9, 1865, with 9 officers and 164 men.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company G - "Warren Defenders" - primarily from Wawrren County
Company H - "Fisher Light Infantry" - primarily from Anson County
Company I - "Anson Regulators" - primarily from Anson County
Company K - "Anson Independent" - primarily from Anson County[2]
