The 6th Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry was organized at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin, and it was mustered in July 16, 1861.It went to Washington, D. C., in May and was in the Grand Review May 23. It was moved to Louisville, Kentucky, June 17.It was mustered out July 2, 1865. [1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
