Brief History
47th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Loachapoka, Alabama, in May, 1862, and moved to Virginia in June. Most of its members were drawn from Chambers, Tallapoosa, Cherokee, and Coosa counties. The unit surrendered with17 officers and 188 men.
