Resources[edit | edit source]

Computers and Internet Access[edit | edit source]

The center has 15 desktop computers in the main search area, with an additional 15 computers in the training room for hands-on instruction. Personal laptops can also be connected to the internet via WiFi. Many helpful research web sites are available including free use of many subscription websites and popular genealogy programs.

Free Subscription Websites[edit | edit source]

This center has access to the FamilySearch Center Portal which gives free access to some resources at partner websites such as, Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, etc. which generally charge subscriptions.

Printers, Scanners, and Audio Cassette Converter for patron use[edit | edit source]

  • Printers - The center allows each patron to print a limited number of copies. Different printing and copying options are available including a wide format printer for printing fan charts (13" x 19"). Patrons are encouraged to bring a usb drive on which to store printouts/copies if many copies are needed. This allows the patron to print the needed information at some other location.
  • Scanners - One multi-function printer has a scanner which can scan directly to FamilySearch in color or black and white. There is also a flat bed scanner, an Epson FastFoto scanner, and a small Kodak scanner for slides and photo film negatives.
  • Audio Cassette Converter - A device to convert standard size audio cassettes into a digital format.

**Please note that you must bring your own flash drive to use for the output from any of the devices that convert information to a digital format.

Appointment required for the following: FastFoto photo scanner, 8mm movie, and VHS/VHS-C conversions.[edit | edit source]

**Please note that you must bring your own flash drive to use for the output from any of the devices that convert information to a digital format.

  • We are able to digitize home VHS and VHS-C video cassettes and home DVD movies. Make sure you flash drive of at least 16GB for this service....it takes about 2GB of space for each hour of video.
