  • Name of newspaper obituary appeared in
  • Date obituary was published

Before searching this collection, it is helpful to know:

  • The name of your ancestor
  • The approximate death date
  • The names of other relatives and associates

  • Search for the death certificate
  • If a birth date was provided in the obituary, search for a birth record
  • The name of the undertaker or mortuary could lead you to funeral and cemetery records, which often include the names and residences of other family members

I Can’t Find the Person I’m Looking For, What Now?

  • The person may be recorded with an abbreviated or variant form of their name
  • Try searching by surname only
