Brief History

The 3rd Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry was organized at Concord and mustered in on the 23 of August, 1861. The length of service was for 4 years. They were mustered out on July 25, 1865, non-veterans mustered out August 23, 1864.

Copp was commissioned from the ranks and made a lieutenant at the age of eighteen in the 3rd New Hampshire Infantry Regiment during the U.S. Civil War.
