- Access to archives is by appointment. A comprehensive collection of books, journals, newspapers and audio-visual material has been collected over the years. In addition to the many historical reference materials available, there is an extensive collection of Limerick-related materials held here. This local collection is an essential aid for anyone researching the history of Limerick. Limerick Studies Archives is the repository for local government archives in County Limerick covering local authority archives and administrative records of older bodies including Board of Guardians and Rural District Councils. The service also covers archives of private origin relating to the county.

- Limerick Museum houses one of the largest collections of any Irish museum. Established in 1916, the museum is the oldest local authority museum in the state and with nearly 60,000 objects and its aim is to collect, preserve and display objects that tell the story of Limerick and its people.
