Task List[edit | edit source]
- NOTE: You can scroll through tabs on Google Sheets. Next to the first tab, there are four lines stacked vertically. If you click that, you can see a complete list of all tabs on the Google Sheet. Additionally, next to the last tab, there are right and left arrows that you can click to scroll through.
Add to Pages[edit | edit source]
Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]
Sign your name next to a link on the Add to Pages tab of the task list.
- NOTE: You can scroll through tabs on Google Sheets. Next to the first tab, there are four lines stacked vertically. If you click that, you can see a complete list of all tabs on the Google Sheet. Additionally, next to the last tab, there are right and left arrows that you can click to scroll through.
Step Two - Click the Link[edit | edit source]
Using the links on the task list, click the place you want to work on.
Step Three - Click the header name in the Contents[edit | edit source]
In the contents, select the header that is mentioned in column D on the task list. This should jump you down to the subheading or you can also just scroll down to this subheading.
Step Four - Click Edit Source next to the header[edit | edit source]
- Click Edit Source next to the header you found in column D.
- Copy the code in column E and paste it in chronological order by date.
Exceptions:
- Sometimes the link needs to go under multiple subheadings. For example, "Vital Records - B, M, D" means it needs to go under Birth, Marriage, and Death under Vital Records. Likewise, "Town Records - Town Reports" means it needs to go under Town Reports under Town Records. If you see a dash (-) you likely need to add it under an additional subheading.
- If the link is already on the page, replace it with this new link to make it match the new manual of style. Do not worry about other entries on the page that are not in accordance with the manual of style.
- If there are no other entries with dates, put this as the first bullet.
- If there is a note about there being no online records available, please replace that note with this link.
- Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.
- Enter in
Barnstable Catalog Collections Project
as the Summary.
- Click Save Changes.
Put a date next to your name on the task list once you've finished a link.
Check for Camera Icon[edit | edit source]
Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]
Sign your name next to a link on the Check for Camera Icon tab of the task list.
Using the links on the task list, open up the collection in the FamilySearch Catalog
Step Three - Check for a Camera Icon[edit | edit source]
- Scroll down to the Film/Digital Notes section and look for a camera icon on the right of the note.
- There may or may not be a key over the camera icon. Either count as having a camera icon.
- We are checking for digitized collections that can be viewed online at a patron's home or FamilySearch Center. We will not be adding books or microfilm-only collections. Those look something like the this and will NOT have a camera icon:
- Occasionally, some collections in the catalog are part of a much larger collection. The catalog will sometimes link you to the bigger collection from the information page. Usually this will work, but you may come across a catalog entry that endlessly loops you and you cannot find a camera icon or you end up on a microfilm icon at the last page. We will not use these collections either. Here is an example:
- 1906 Circuit Court-- 1906(*); Circuit Court at FamilySearch Catalog — images
- 1906 Circuit Court-- 1906(*); Circuit Court at FamilySearch Catalog — images
- Once you have determined if there is a camera icon or not, simply click the checkbox in column D if it has a camera icon. If it doesn't have a camera icon, leave it blank.
- Put the date next to your name to show it has been checked.
