Central Register of Persons in Denmark and the municipalities in Greenland [1]

Historical Background

Greenland became Danish in 1814, though the people became citizens of Denmark in 1953. Individuals from Greenland were added to the Central Register of Persons in Denmark starting 1 May 1972.[2]

Beginning in 1924, civil registration of births, marriages, and deaths began to be kept on a national level also.
