Frederick Webb Hodge, in his Handbook of American Indians North of Mexico, gave a more complete history of the Micmac tribe, with estimations of the population of the tribe at various time periods.

Tribal Headquarters

There is no central headquarters for the entire Micmac Tribe. The tribe has bands in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec in Canada.

In the United States, only the Aroostook Band of Micmac in Maine is federally recognized by the U.S. government today.
