Brief History[edit | edit source]

This Unit was organized at Davenport September 28 to October 18. 1861. They mustered out July 15, 1865.[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company A - enrolled in Muscatine County

Company B - enrolled in Harlin County, Marshall County and Iowa County

Company C - enrolled in Louisa County

Company E - enrolled in Cedar County

Company F - enrolled in Washington County
