Brief History
The 9th Regiment was organized at Eminence, under Col. Richard T. Jacob, and mustered in on the 23rd day of August, 1862. This regiment along with the 9th, 11th & 12th captured Morgan on the 26th of July 1863. The regiment then returned to Eminence, Kentucky, where it mustered out on September 11, 1863.[1]
The 9th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry was organized at Emminence, Kentucky, August 22, 1862. Duty at Emminence until September. The regiment mustered out September 11, 1863.[2]

The 9th Regiment was organized at Eminence, under Col. Richard T. Jacob, and mustered into the United States service on the 23rd day of August, 1862, aby Maj. L. Sitgraves, U.S. Mustering Officer.
