Parish History

Clifton with Glapton St Mary the Virgin is an Ancient Parish which includes Garbythorpe within the parish boundary.

The church of St Mary the Virgin dates from the 1tth century with subsequent restoration and was built adjacent to Clifton Hall. It is listed grade I building see Clifton St Mary Wikipedia and Lewis, Samuel A. A Topographical Dictionary of England (1848), pp. 635-639. here
