Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 47th Regiment, Missouri Infantry (Union) was organized at Pilot Knob, Mo., August 22 to September 11, 1864. They were attached to District of St. Louis, Mo., Dept. of Missouri, to December, 1864. Nashville, Tenn., Dept. of the Cumberland, December, 1864. Pulaski, Tenn., Dept. Cumberland, to March, 1865.[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
