The Layton FamilySearch Center offers a variety of equipment to help with your audio and media needs. Convert your VHS, audio
cassette, or Super8 to digital format. We have four converters for this. In the main area, in the two recording studios, and in the
family room. Feel free to reserve any piece of equipment you may need. Our staff are trained on the equipment,
and can assist as needed. Don't forget to bring your flash drive when you come. We also have the two recording studios for bringing in
family members to record yourselves reminiscing on simpler times.
Preparing for your visit
We have a few tips for you to remember after you reserve the equipment you wish to use.
- Bring a flash drive to put your digital files on after converting them.
- Bring an external hard drive if you have a lot of film you are converting. The files will be big.
Notice:
Please do not register for multiple pieces of equipment for the same time slot! We realize that some equipment takes a lot of idle time, but we don't want people using multiple machines at the same time, as that prevents others from working on their stuff. If there is equipment (other than the one you have reserved) not being used while you are here, you can ask the receptionists to use it so you can maximize your efficiency while you are here.
