FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.


The Clearfield Utah Family History Center serves the following cities: Clearfield, Syracuse, West Point, Sunset, and Clinton.

The following classes will be held at the Clearfield Family History Center at the dates and times indicated. Seating is limited so registration is necessary; register by calling the Center at 801-774-2188 during regular Center operating hours (see above for schedule).

Tue 07 Jun 2:00 PM Snipping Tool, Print Screen, Irfanview (2 hours). In Irfanview, you will learn basic skills on how to crop, straighten, and highlight text, how to name files, and how to upload images to FamilySearch. Pearson
Thu 09 Jun 2:00 PM Ancestry.com, Part 3 (Adding photos and information from other trees and accessing FamilySearch through your Ancestry tree. Hands on practice.) Cragun
Wed 15 Jun 2:00 PM How to 'Create a New Source' in FamilySearch using a document from another website (2 hours). This is a 'hands-on' activity. The new source will be created in Family Tree. You will receive step-by-step instructions so you can practice both in class and at home. Pearson
Tue 21 Jun 2:00 PM The Basics of U. S. Census Research in Identifying Members of a Family (2 hours). How to 'roll the census' to track a family over time, and two effective ways to track your research. Pearson
Thu 23 Jun 2:00 PM Ancestry.com, Part 4 (Learn to use the Gallery, add your own photos, the LifeStory section, how to merge, edit relationships, and delete. How to save your tree. Hands on practice.) Cragun
Wed 29 Jun 2:00 PM Using Memories in Family Tree to Add Photos, Documents, and Stories (2 hours). Using the Gallery to upload, tag, and link images, add titles and descriptions, and create albums. Pearson

Collections

  • FamilySearch Catalog: This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the FamilySearch Catalog.
  • The center has some books, fiche, and microfilm available on indefinite loan.

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions. Including FamilySearch.org, Ancestry.com, Footnote, HeritageQuest, AmericanAncestors.org (formerly New England Historic Genealogical Society), World Vital Records, Godfrey Memorial Library and many other sites.

Hardware and Equipment

  • This center has computers, microfilm readers, fiche reader, printers, etc.
