Griselles

Griselles' town hall holds vital records newer than a hundred years old. After that long, a copy is sent to the archives at the Départment of Loiret. However, the archives burned after they were bombed in World War Two and all the records earlier than 1832 were destroyed. The Départment has scanned all their records from 1832 - 1902 and made them available online. As of this writing (2014) they are in the process of scanning and uploading the records at the communes from before 1832. They expect to be finished ini 2016. If you want the older records before they are finished, you must write to the town hall. If you want records from the last 100 years, you must prove you are a direct descendant by sending the town hall a certified copy of your birth certificate proving the relationship. Be sure to send return postage by buying 2 International Reply Coupons and sending them with your request, along with a self-addressed envelope large enough to hold the document you are requesting.

Note: "Maire" is French for "Mayor," and "Mairie" is French for "Town Hall."
