NORTON (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of Stockton, S. W. division of Stockton ward, S. division of the county of Durham, 2 miles (N.) from Stockton; There are places of worship for Wesleyans and the Society of Friends.[1]

St Mary Norton is an ancient parish and from within it in 1237 grew the parishes of Stockton-on-Tees.
