FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.


The Lodi California Family History Center is located in San Joaquin County, California, north of Stockton.

  • Parking is accessible from Daisy Avenue, on the church's west side. Please ring the doorbell if the door from the parking lot is locked.

Open Hours: Monday 10am-5pm, Tuesday 10am-5pm and 7-9pm; Wednesday 7-9 pm; Thursday 10am-5pm and 7-9pm, Saturday 9am-12noon

Holiday Closures: The Lodi California FHC is closed for federal holidays; General Conference weekends; Thanksgiving weekend; and Christmas break (December 19 - January 1). Open by appointment only during holidays. Contact your Ward Family History Consultant or the FHC Director, Kathryn Marshall to make an appointment.

Scheduled Classes[edit | edit source]

"Working with Old Photos in Photoshop": Friday, February 1 at 9 am. Learn how to restore old photos, colorize black and white images, work in layers, use transparency, modify lighting, and use other techniques to enhance ancestral images in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. FamilySearch.org will soon allow users to attach photos to the individuals in your pedigree.

"FamilySearch.org and Family Tree": Saturday, February 2 at 9 am. Familiarize yourself with the collections and search capabilities of FamilySearch.org. Learn how to use the new FamilyTree, add Sources and photos to your family tree.

"The FHC Portal -- Free Access to Subscription Web Sites at the FHC": Friday, March 1 at1 pm Tour of the subscription web sites available for free use at the Lodi Family History Center. Learn what you can find on Ancestry.com, Fold3, Heritage Quest, World VItal Records, Genealogy Bank, FindMyPast, and other great web sites.

Center Resources[edit | edit source]

Collections[edit | edit source]

  • Family History Library Catalog: This center receives any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog.
  • For Lodi's large German from Russia population, the Lodi center has a number of resources relevant to that community, such as the 81 microfilm set of the Saint Petersburg Lutheran Consistory parish records. Dictionaries, gazetteers, and other books relevant to a variety of locations are also available.
  • Over 200 microfilms with Finnish church and vital records
  • An index of births, deaths, marriages extracted from the Lodi News-Sentinel from 1881-2005, and from the Valley Review, a defunct newspaper.

Databases and Software[edit | edit source]

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions (such as Ancestry.com, Fold3, HeritageQuest, FindMyPast, and other great sites).
  • Genealogy Bank offers collections of digital images of newspapers.
  • New England Historic Genealogical Society web site is provided for free access.
  • AniMap displays and prints changing county and state boundaries over time.
  • DeedMapper plots maps from metes and bounds descriptions in land records.
  • Photoshop Elements enhances readability of old documents and restores family photos.
  • PAF, Legacy, RootsMagic, and Family Insight are available.

Hardware and Equipment[edit | edit source]

  • Patron are invited to use our ten computer stations, 14" scanner, printers, and copier at no charge for their genealogical research.
  • Three microfilm readers, three microfiche readers, and a film/fiche reader printer are available.
