Brief History

The 30th Kentucky Mounted Infantry was organized under the 20,000 call, and was mustered into the United States service for one year. Being mounted this regiment moved with great expedition to different portions of the state, and attacked the enemy by surprise. It mustered out April 18, 1865, at Frankfort, Kentucky.

Organized at Somerset and Frankfort, Ky. Companies "A," "B," "E" and "F" mustered in at Frankfort February 19, 1864; Company "G" March 29, 1864, and Companies "C," "D," "H," "I" and "K" at Camp Burnside, Ky., April 5, 1864. Mustered out April 18, 1865.
