Family research in Leipzig

There are several possibilities to do research in the Stadtarchiv Leipzig re. death records. Instead of the church, the city of Leipzig by special decree kept all records of its citizens who died regardless of religion etc. since the 1500s. These documents are known as Ratsleichenbücher and are indexed. See http://www.familienarchiv-papsdorf.de/archi.htm
