Brief History

The 19th Regiment, Connecticut Infantry was organized at Litchfield, Connecticut and was mustered in July 25 - September 9, 1862.  This regiment changed to 2nd Regiment, Connecticut Heavy Artillery November 23, 1863.

Companies in the 19th Regiment, Connecticut Volunteer Infantry

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. This regiment was composed of men from all parts of Connecticut.  The following show the makeup of each Company and the towns where raised:
