:The collection is very rich. There are more than 50,000 pieces and traces and it is presented in an exhibition where all the stages of preparation of prehistoric artifacts are highlighted, comprising human practices and technical procedures that man used to establish himself in the region. The visiting public has at their disposal an educational action program that aims to discuss the formative character of Prehistory content, socialize the knowledge resulting from archaeological research and form a critical awareness about the preservation and valorization of cultural heritage.

:The institute's museum, Galdino Bicho, brings true historical testimonies, with weapons, military objects from the army, colonial and prehistoric pieces. The museum exhibits various objects, many of them donated by the artist from Sergipe. In fact, the name of the museum is a tribute to the same Galdino Guttman Bicho (1885-1955).  In more than one hundred years of history, the Historical and Geographic Institute of Sergipe - affectionately called 'A casa de Sergipe' - has a collection of about 50 thousand volumes between books and periodicals, most of which are with the history of Sergipe and mostly composed of donations. The institute is also composed of 19th and 20th century newspapers, most of which are digitalized and available on the institution's system.

:The Museum aims to research, preserve and show, through its permanent and temporary exhibition, important attractions in the history of Sergipe, during the period of the sugarcane monoculture. It is a specific Museum, classified as History Museum. It was the first set up specially for the study of the presence of blacks in the formation of the Brazilian people.

:The Museum was created in 1960 and is located in the city of São Cristóvão, the first capital of Sergipe. The building, whose architectural lines prevail in the Baroque style, was listed by the State as a good of value and preservation in September 2003. The collection of the oldest museum in Sergipe is rich and diverse, with the mark of its curators, the brothers Junot Silveira and Jenner Augusto.
