Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 32nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry mustered in August 20 to September 7, 1861 Mansfield, Ohio. They were mustered out July 20, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Companies by County:
Company A - Also known as "Lucy's Congressmen". Many men from Carrol, Columbiana, Mahoning & Stark Counties. Organized at Miller's Hall on 27 August 1861, then to Camp Bartley.
Company B - Many men from Mechanicsburg and Texas, Champaign County; West Liberty, Logan County; and Milford Centre, Richwood and Unionville, Union County.
Company C - Many men from Allen County & Mt. Vernon, Knox County.
