Historical Background Was founded in 1929 by three Mystic residents: Dr. Charles K. Stillman, Edward E. Bradley and Carl C. Cutler. s a private, not-for-profit educational institution governed by trustees and funded with a $20 million annual operating budget, provided by admissions, individual donors, foundations, sponsors, food service, the Museum Store, other retail operations, endowments and other investments.
